William C. Vertin, 64, of Minooka, passed away Sunday evening at Amita Health Adventist Medical Center in Bolingbrook with
his family by his side.
A private memorial service will be held at the Fruland Funeral Home, 121 W. Jefferson St. in Morris at a later date.
Born January 13, 1953 in Joliet, he was the son of Charles and Ruth (Longnecker) Vertin. He graduated from Seneca High
School with the class of 1971. He married Audrey DeWitt on June 24, 1972 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris. They
lived most of their married life in Seneca and for the last four years in Minooka. For 30 years he was a tow boat captain, retiring
from Ingram Barge Company in 2002.
He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey; two children, Chantel Vertin of Minooka and Jason (Lacy) Vertin of Joliet; ten
grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
He was a hardworking man who loved music, enjoyed reading, traveling the country with his wife and his many travels on the
river and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed in William Vertins name to Joliet Area Community Hospice.
