James L. Hagen, 82, of Lisbon, IL, passed away early Friday morning, October 12, 2018 at Heritage Health in Mendota
where he had received care for MS.
Born October 25, 1935 in Alexandria, MN, he was the son of Rev. E. O. and Alma (Holm) Hagen.
He attended rural school at Osakis, MN and graduated from HS at Waldorf Junior College in Forest City, IA in 1954.
He worked at Libby Owens Ford glass plant in Ottawa from 1954-1960 with time away serving in the U.S. Army 1956-1958. In
1960 he enrolled at Moorhead State University, Moorhead, MN. It was during this time he met and married Sigrid Vorvick.
They were married at Bethel Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, MN on March 17, 1962. Jim graduated with a B A degree in
business administration and accounting. In 1965, Jim began employment at Caterpillar in Peoria, IL and was transferred by
the company to the Joliet plant in 1966 where he worked for the rest of his career in the accounting department and for a time
was also treasurer/manager of the Credit Union.
Jim and Sigrid built a home in Lisbon where they raised their family. While he was able, Jim served on the Lisbon Village
board and was active in churches he and his family attended. He will be remembered for his strong faith in Christ, his sense
of humor and his devoted love for his family.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Sigrid; his sons and their families, Ethan and Lynn (Duvick) Hagen of Markesan, WI and
their children Skyler, Tori and Levi; Steven and Jill (Jorstad) Hagen of Appleton, WI and their children Alexander and Grant;
his siblings, Lloyd (Tina) Hagen of Irvington, VA, Joann Swensen of Ottawa, IL and David (Gerda) Hagen of Appleton, WI;
numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and neighbors.
Memorials may be directed to the Helmar Lutheran Church, Samaritans Purse or donor’s choice.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Helmar Lutheran Church with Pastor Steven C.
Lombardo officiating. Interment will follow in Helmar Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 am until time of
service at the church.
